The opening of the New Mount Zigana Tunnel, which will connect Trabzon and Gumushane provinces in the north-east of Turkey, will take place Dec. 29, 2019, the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications of Turkey told Trend Feb. 16.
The tunnel is under construction and its length will be 8 kilometers, the ministry added.
“Construction of the tunnel started on March 17, 2017,” the ministry said.
About 45 percent of the construction work has been completed, according to the ministry.
Total cost of the project is 580 million Turkish liras, the ministry noted.
