Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, addressing a meeting with local businessmen, stated that the Avaza National Tourist Zone will be transferred to the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, the local TV channel Altyn Asyr reported on March 17.
"Such a principled decision of the head of state means the beginning of the most active stage in the development of a new resort on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea," the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH) reported.
Tourism industry has a special place in the strategic plans of Turkmenistan. The under construction Avaza resort is one such example. There investors, firms and companies are granted tax and customs privileges.
