Turkmenistan sees GDP growth by over 6%

According to the results of January-April 2018, the GDP of Turkmenistan amounted to 6.2 percent.

The GDP growth of Turkmenistan amounted to 6.2 percent, according to statistics of January-April 2018, the Turkmen government said in a statement.

Compared to the same period of last year, the GDP growth in the industrial sector increased by 4.6 percent, construction by 0.4 percent, transport and communications by 10.4 percent, trade by 7.8 percent, agriculture by 3.2 percent, and services by 10.1 percent, production by 4.2 percent.

According to the results of four months, the volume of retail trade turnover in comparison with the corresponding period of 2017, increased by 18.2 percent.

"Prices for consumer goods, as well as tariffs for the provision of services to the population, are kept within the established limits," said the message.

Turkmenistan is carrying out industrialization aimed at increasing the production of import-substituting products and the development of exports. The World Bank projected Turkmenistan's GDP growth rate of 6.3 percent in 2018; the United Nations (UN) forecasts Turkmenistan's economy to grow by 4.8 percent in 2018.
