Turkmenistan gets ready for grain harvesting

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting with deputy prime ministers and heads of the country's regional administrations, the State Agency "Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary" (TDH) reported.

The meeting participants heard a report on progress of the current agricultural work, including preparations for grain harvesting.

Berdimuhamedov instructed to provide all conditions for successful harvesting of grain, ensure uninterrupted operation of grain harvesters and other vehicles, and points for receiving grain.

In 2018, Turkmenistan plans to harvest 1.6 million tons of grain from 760,000 hectares of land. Particularly, it is planned to harvest 450,000 tons of grain in the Akhal region, 380,000 tons in Mary, 350,000 tons in Lebap, 300,000 tons in Dashoguz, and 120,000 tons in Balkan.

The John Deere and CLAAS grain harvesters and tractors will be involved in the harvesting campaign.

In July 2017, the country harvested about 1 million tons of wheat. Turkmenistan was previously awarded by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations for achievements in the field of food security.
