Companies of Russia’s Altai Krai region are interested in increasing supplies of food, agricultural machinery and special equipment to Azerbaijan, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian region Viktor Meshcheryakov said.

He was speaking at a meeting with the temporary charge d’affaires of the Russian Federation in Azerbaijan Oleg Murashev and Russia’s Trade Representative in Azerbaijan Eldar Tlyabichev in the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan, according to a message on the website of the government of Russia’s Altai Krai region.

Presently, the delegation of the Altai Krai region is in Baku. The delegation includes heads of 13 companies representing five types of economic activity, as well as members of the government.

The delegation arrived in Baku to participate in the WorldFood Azerbaijan, Caspian Agro and IpackCaspian exhibitions.

Meshcheryakov said that presently, the foreign trade turnover of the Altai Krai region is $1.5 billion, only $8.5 million, or 0.21 percent of which accounts for Azerbaijan.

“Therefore, we came to expand our ties and increase export supplies,” Meshcheryakov added.

The Altai cluster of agricultural machinery, which includes 28 companies, is ready to supply modern equipment for the agricultural sector of Azerbaijan, and this was also noted during the conversation with Oleg Murashev and Eldar Tlyabichev.

The leadership of the delegation of the Altai Krai region also held a working meeting in Azerbaijan’s Economy Ministry, during which the Azerbaijani side confirmed intention to increase the volume of trade turnover with the Russian region.
