Azerbaijan's Yalama Agropark LLC is holding negotiations with foreign companies with the aim of creating irrigation systems.
"At the present moment, we continue to work on creation of a crop farm with a modern irrigation system on an area of 956 hectares. Drainage and collector systems have been cleaned, and the irrigation channels have been restored. It is planned to lay concrete irrigation channels of about 10 kilometers in length from two different sources and to build there two reservoirs with volume of 50,000 cubic meters each. Negotiations with such world famous companies as Valley, Reinke and Lindsay are being held for the installation of modern irrigation systems," the company told Trend.
One of the set goals is also to increase the workforce capacity of Azerbaijan in the field of agriculture, the company stated.
"Currently, the agropark employs 190 people. More than 200 people are employed here during the seasonal work. After the completion of the work in the second stage, the number of jobs is planned to increase to 300. We cooperate with universities and other educational institutions, and in particular a memorandum of cooperation has been signed with the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University. In addition, we have implemented a summer internship program for students," the company said.
At present, work is underway in 30 districts of Azerbaijan to create 45 agroparks with a total value of 1.4 billion manats on a territory of 191,800 hectares.
The work in the first phase has already been completed in agroparks in the Khachmaz, Shamkir, Jalilabad and Goranboy districts.
