Azerbaijan’s Food Safety Agency and the Kiwa NV, a European institution for testing, inspection and certification (TIC), intend to implement a new project in the field of product certification, Assistant to Kiwa Director General in Turkey Metin Duran told Trend Oct. 4.

He said that this project will help, among other things, to facilitate entry of Azerbaijani food products to European markets.

“In Azerbaijan, we worked with both state and private companies,” he noted. “The demand for our services is growing. In particular, we are starting a new project with Azerbaijan’s Food Safety Agency. For now, I cannot reveal the details. However, I’d like to note that we intend to facilitate the entry of Azerbaijani products to European markets. This also concerns certification of honey. In addition, we would like to help introduce advanced agricultural technologies in fraternal Azerbaijan. This sphere has great prospects. For example, the Netherlands annually export agricultural products worth about 85 billion euros.”

Kiwa was founded in 1948 to monitor the quality of drinking water in the Netherlands. Later, the organization worked in various European and international markets, providing services related to independent quality assessment and issuing quality certificates for goods and services in various industries.

Presently, Kiwa provides services in more than 50 countries with approximately 4,700 employees.

In 2017, the organization’s revenues amounted to 529 million euros, and the net profit stood at more than 38 million euros.
