Iran expands its navy`s fleet amid US sanctions

The Islamic Republic of Iran announced the expansion of its Navy's fleet.
Admiral Habibollah Sayari, the head of Iran's navy told ILNA that the Islamic Republic in the near future will add “Sahand” destroyer and “Fateh” submarine to its naval fleet.
He made the remarks responding to the effect of US sanctions on Iranian armed forces and naval and military equipment.
“Anyone who has imposed sanctions on us will know that we will turn restrictions to constructions,” he said.
The US strategy of maximum pressure on Iran took full effect on Nov. 5. It included the re-imposition of oil sanctions and designation of more than 700 Iranian entities, individuals, aircraft, and vessels.
