Kazakh meat producers' output was 21,800 tons in January 2019, which is 16.5 percent more than a year earlier, Trend reports via EnergyProm.kz.
The main production is concentrated in the Almaty (29.6 percent), East Kazakhstan (17.3 percent) and Akmola (15.1 percent) regions.
It should be noted that the country's meat producers met the demand by 83.2 percent in 2018, and exports grew by 89 percent year-on-year.
The demand for meat in the domestic market is growing: sales of meat and meat by-products increased by 4.1 percent in 2018, and the consumption of meat and meat products by the population grew by 6.7 percent, to 19 kilograms per person in the third quarter of 2018.
At the same time, consumption in urban areas made up 19.6 kilograms per person (5 percent up year-on-year), and in rural areas — 18.1 kilograms (9.2 percent up).
Most of meat is consumed by residents of the Karaganda (22.3 kilograms per person), Pavlodar (22 kilograms) and Almaty (21.8 kilograms) regions.
