Uzbekistan, Kuwait implement social projects in Aral Sea region

The authorities of Uzbekistan and Kuwait discussed joint projects in infrastructure and social sphere, the parties agreed to implement social projects in the Aral Sea region, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development will be attracted to fund their implementation.

The ministry states that, on March 29, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Kamilov, met in Tashkent with the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense of Kuwait, Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who is in Uzbekistan on a private visit. The parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, as well as current issues of international and regional policy.

"Special attention was paid to attracting funds from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and other investors to implement important social, economic and infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan," the ministry’s website noted.

In particular, the parties agreed on the implementation of social projects in the Aral Sea region. Mutual interest was also noted in the diversification of transport corridors linking Central Asia with the Near and Middle East. In this regard, the relevance of the transport corridor "Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Iran - Oman" was noted.
