Uzbekistan, World Bank sign loan agreements for $300M

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov held talks with World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

The meeting was held as part of the visit of the Uzbek delegation to Washington during the Spring Meetings of the Board of Governors of the World Bank and the IMF.

The parties discussed the prospects for the development of further cooperation between the World Bank and Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan and the World Bank signed loan agreements totaling $300 million to finance projects in Uzbekistan aimed at improving municipal services and urban infrastructure and developing entrepreneurship in the Fergana Valley.

Uzbekistan became a member of the World Bank in 1995. Since 1995, the bank has provided Uzbekistan with loans and loans totaling about $4 billion for the implementation of 36 projects in the field of privatization, development of the financial sector, modernization of agriculture, electric power, improvement of social infrastructure, health care and education.
