Districts of Kazakhstan to increase vegetable manufacture

Jerlan Qoschanov, the Head of the Kazakhstan's Karaganda region, visited Bukhar-Zhyrau, Osakarov and Nura districts, Trend reports referring to the press office of the akimat (administrative center).

The head of the region got acquainted with the cultivation plan for the season. He was informed that the cabbage supplies at the Stabilization Fund shall be increased by 28 percent for 2019-2020 to keep the cabbage prices stable. Some 80 hectares of the land of the Bukhar-Zhyrau district were already allocated for this purpose instead of 50 hectares used last year.

The area of the potato planting will also increase. A new venture named Baymyrza Agro-2018 was set up for this reason. The venture is to plant potato on the area of 140 hectares. To preserve the crops, the warehouse with storage capacity of 8,000 tons was built.

In the Osakarov district, it is also planned to plant more potato than in the previous year. Some 305 hectares were already allocated for this purpose. As expected, European varieties of potatoes will be planted,. too. Last year, the foreign seeds allowed to harvest 40 tons of crops per hectare. In total, 6,000 tons of potato was harvested.

“Currently, there are plans to return the unused land back to the State property. The land will be placed as an auction lot. I advise the farmers and agribusinesses to participate in the auction in order to receive additional land," said the head of the region.

Jerlan Qoschanov also highlighted the importance of the expansion of the irrigated area. Currently, over 1,000 of hectares of the Nura district land is irrigated. This year the area is to double in size.
