By Tamilla Mammadova - Trend:

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava hopes that negotiations with Kazakhstan will be successful, and wheat from Kazakhstan will be supplied to the country at competitive price this year, Trend reports with reference to commersant.ge.

Natia Turnava met with representatives of KazakhExport. Deputy minister of economy and sustainable development of Georgia Genadi Arveladze and Chairperson of Georgian Wheat and Bread Producers Association Levan Silagava also participated in the meeting. The parties discussed the issue of importing wheat from Kazakhstan to Georgia.

After the meeting, Natia Turvanava said that the growth of wheat imports from Kazakhstan would allow the Georgian market to increase wheat supplies in the country.

Within the visit of the Kazakh delegation, negotiations with representatives of the private sector were also held.

Earlier, Georgia and Kazakhstan agreed to lower tariffs for the transportation of Kazakh wheat and increase the volume of its export to Georgia. The agreement was reached at the end of April, during the visit of Turnava to Kazakhstan.

Georgia has accelerated the process of negotiations with Kazakhstan on increasing wheat imports from this country amid speculations about possible decrease of the wheat import from Russia.
