Inflation in Georgia in June 2019 stood at 4.3 percent, Trend reports with reference to the data of the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
Over the year, prices increased most of all on alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+20 percent combined), for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+6.5 percent combined).
Besides, transport (+3.2 percent), health care (+2.9 percent), education (+2.6 percent), service in hotels, prices in cafes and restaurants (+2.5 percent)have increased as well.
Meanwhile, clothes and footwear fell in price by 2.6 percent and communication services - by 6.9 percent.
According to the National Bank of Georgia, in May annual inflation in Georgia was 4.7 percent due to the significant influence of one-time factors, including the increase in the excise tax on tobacco products at the beginning of the year and the increase in gasoline prices on world markets.
The document notes that after exhausting the influence of external, exogenous factors, from the beginning of the next year the inflation will begin to decline and will approach the target level of 3 percent.
