Iran to draft saffron development plan

Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade has ordered to draft a saffron development plan in upcoming three weeks in order to boost the exports.

"To reduce the obstacles related to saffron production, we will follow suggestions submitted to the High Council of Non-oil Exports," said Reza Rahmani, Trend reports citing ILNA.

In his words, a cohesive development plan for saffron shall be drafted, and the private sector's comments on improving ways in trade and industry are welcome.

"In next three weeks, the first draft of the plan will be provided. Businessmen, producers and exporters in this field can submit their suggestions to reform the process of returning foreign currency exports revenue," he noted. "The suggestions must be in certain framework that is approved by Central Bank of Iran. The plan will play an important role in regulating saffron market and developing the trade in Khorasan Province."

"The recommendations on the measures to solve the problems relating to saffron production will be submitted to the High Council of non-oil Exports in order to achieve development in production and trade sectors via cooperation of public and private sector," he said.

"Saffron is a unique commodity that is produced in the country and Iran Saffron National Council will support the draft development plan with the help of all important organizations including Chamber of Commerce, specialist associations, the Central Bank of Iran, stock exchange, universities, startups and officials of Khorasan province," he added.
