By Nargiz Sadikhova – Trend:

A set of measures to stabilize and maintain the prices of socially important food products and gradually eliminate the causes for their growth has entered into force in Kazakhstan, Trend reports with reference to the press office of prime minister of Kazakhstan.

This became known at the Government session chaired by the Prime Minister Askar Mamin.

“Among the measures are the permission for domestic producers to place their goods in all retail outlets, limitation of the trade allowance for socially significant food products no more than 15 percent and a ban on the collection of remuneration from suppliers, curbing the seasonal increase in prices on four main commodity items (onions, potatoes, carrots, cabbage). Along with this, the regions will ensure the construction of wholesale distribution centers, retail facilities and the modernization of markets,” the report said.

Mamin also noted that President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has emphasized the importance of the issue of containing prices for socially significant food products during the recent meeting.

“Governors of the country’s regions should keep the issue of preventing price increases under special control and conduct daily monitoring, taking prompt measures,” Mamin said.

Thus, local akimats (administrative centers) were instructed to speed up work on the approval of model regional rules for the implementation of mechanisms to stabilize prices for socially important food products and to start purchasing products in stabilization funds in advance.

“To audit the activities of stabilization funds, reformat their work and promptly carry out procurement for commodity interventions is necessary to further improve the efficiency of the work of stabilization funds. It is also instructed to develop a program for the production of the 10 most socially significant products. This will be an important factor in price control,” Mamin said.

The Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan has also been instructed to ensure the development of a unified online platform as soon as possible.

“The system will allow citizens to monitor prices for socially significant food products in the context of regions and specific stores online, as well as directly participate in price monitoring,” the statement said.
