Production of electric vehicles will start in the Uzbek city of Kokand in 2021, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
The project is implemented by the Shaffof omadli sanoat company operating in the Kokand Free Economic Zone, in cooperation with China's Silk Road Company.
The project cost is $30 million, and the volume of foreign investment amounts to $24 million.
Preliminary calculations showed that the estimated cost of this environmentally friendly mode of transport produced in Uzbekistan will be $3,000.
Electric vehicles are important to use in the conditions of limited petroleum products.
