In January-August 2019, the value of agricultural production in Azerbaijan amounted to about 5.206 billion manats, which is 6.2 percent more than in the same period last year, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee.
During the reporting period, livestock production increased by 3.1 percent (up to 2.56 billion manats), and crop production - by 9.2 percent (up to 2.65 billion manats).
During the reporting period, 332,600 tons of meat, 1.386 million tons of milk, 1.242 billion eggs and 15,400 tons of wool were produced in the country. Compared with the same indicators in 2018, meat production increased by 3 percent, milk - by 1.5 percent, eggs - by 6.9 percent, and wool - by 1.5 percent.
For the first half of this year, 703,800 tons of potatoes were grown (an increase of 9.5 percent) and 1,283,800 tons of other vegetables, which is 11.3 percent more compared to the same period last year. During the reporting period, 3,229,000 tons of grain and leguminous crops were grown, which is 6.3 percent more than in the same period last year.
In the reporting period, 427,900 tons of melons were grown in Azerbaijan, which is 15 percent more than in the same period of the previous year, and 382,400 tons of fruits and berries were grown (an increase of 5.5 percent). Furthermore, 56,500 tons of grapes (a 49.5-percent annual growth), 580 tons of green tea leaves (a 16.4-percent decrease) and 31,400 tons of sunflower (a 48.8-percent growth) were grown.
