Iran's Minister of Energy Reza Ardakanian spoke about the $5 billion loan that Russia has granted to Iran, Trend reports via IRNA.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting, in response to a question about Russia's $2 billion loan to Iran, the official said it was a part of Iran's $5 billion loan that was agreed upon in 2017.
"Back then, the MPs allowed the government to receive up to $5 billion worth of loan from Russia," he said.
Ardakanian went on to say that the $2.2 billion loan was used on electrification of the Inche Boroun-Garmsar railroad and to build a 1400-megawatt Sirik power plant in Hormozgan province.
The official announced that the remaining $ 2.8 billion would be used to implement other projects.
“Zahedan-Birjand Railway, Gotvand Hydroelectric Power Plant with capacity of 640 MW as well as reconstruction of Ahwaz Ramin Power Plant and increase of its capacity by 160 MW are among these projects,” he said.
