By Fakhri Vakilov-Trend:

Japanese Isuzu Motors and Itochu Corporation will invest $15 million in the development of Uzbekistan’s Samarkand Automobile Plant, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan’s Uzavtosanoat car manufacturing company.

The sides concluded the agreements following the Uzbek-Japanese business forum, which was held in Tokyo.

These funds will allow increasing, until 2021, the production of buses, trucks and pickups at the plant from 5,000 to 10,000 units per year.

Cooperation of the Samarkand Automobile Plant with Japanese companies Isuzu Motors and Itochu Corporation began in 2007. That year, mass production of trucks and buses based on the Isuzu chassis and power units began. This partnership allowed the plant to significantly increase production.

In January next year, the Samarkand Automobile Plant will begin selling the Isuzu D-Max pickup truck. The price will range from $28,308 to $39,841. The pick-up capacity will be from 865 to 1100 kg.
