Exports of products via Iran’s Khorramshahr port increased by 25 percent during nine months (March 21-December 21) of this Iranian year (began March 21, 2019) compared to the same period last year, said Noorollah Asadi, director general of the Khorramshahr Ports and Maritime Administration of Iran’s Khuzestan province, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization’s website.
Asadi noted that 1.8 million tons of products were exported during this period.
The director added that 1.9 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the Khorramshahr port during the mentioned period. This shows a 22 percent increase over the same period last year, Asadi said.
“During the reporting period, 420 ships carrying more than 1,000 tons of cargo moved in the direction of the Khorramshahr port,” the director added. “This shows a 17 percent increase over the same period last year.”
Asadi said that 21,510 passengers were transported via the Khorramshahr-Kuwait offshore route in the reporting period. Passenger transportation increased by 4 percent compared to the same period last year, the director noted.
There are two platforms with a total area of 6,000 square meters in the Khorramshahr port with daily transportation capacity of 1,200 people.
