Open market operations will be launched in Iran on January 18, Director General of the Central Bank of Iran Abdul Nasser Hemmati said.
Hemmati made the remark at the 59th forum of the central bank, Trend reports referring to IRNA.
“The purchase/sale system will be launched in this regard,” the director general added. “By implementing the open market operations, Iran will implement the currency policy which is applied in the modern banks of the world and its positive results will be gradually observed.”
“This initiative will allow the central bank to change its currency policy,” the director general said. "At the same time, the uncertainty among banks existing in the market will be eliminated."
