Businessmen from Afghanistan buy oil products in Turkmenistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 9

Some 196 transactions were registered at the Turkmen State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange over the past week (March 2-7), Trend reports on March 9 referring to Turkmenistan’s Golden Age newspaper.

The businessmen from Afghanistan offered foreign currency and purchased the base oil produced at the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries and liquefied gas (Turkmengas Group of Companies).

Moreover, cotton yarn and colorless flat glass worth $5.1 million were sold to UAE and Uzbekistan.

The businessmen from the UAE offered the national currency and purchased cotton yarn worth 1.6 million Turkmen manat ($460,375).

Local entrepreneurs purchased polypropylene, petroleum bitumen, high density polyethylene, handmade carpets and cotton fiber. The total amount of transactions reached over 59.3 million Turkmen manat ($16.9 million).

The representatives of enterprises and organizations of all forms of ownership, citizens of Turkmenistan and other countries may participate in exchange trading by acquiring a brokerage place or by entering into a service contract with exchange brokers.

Oil products, cotton fiber, domestic textile and chemical products are mainly exported.

Prices for some products put up for auction change daily and are set in accordance with the international quotations; for cotton in accordance with Liverpool’s Cotton Outlook news agency and for oil products in accordance with Platts news agency.
