Georgia presents anti-crisis economic plan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 24

The employed people, who lost their jobs or were sent home on unpaid leave will receive 200 lari ($62.79) per month during six months in Georgia, Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said during the presentation of an anti-crisis economic plan on April 24, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

As Gakharia noted, the amount given to such persons will be 1,200 lari ($376.77) in total.

“The sustainability of this assistance was of vital importance for us,” he said. He added that the amount is a social purposeful assistance to every citizen.

In addition, as Gakharia said, all the companies, which will retain every job place paying to employees up to 750 lari ($235.48) as monthly salary, will receive full subsidizing of income tax during six months.

“In this way, we will be assisting both citizens and entrepreneurs. The budget of this relief will be 250 million lari [$78.4 million],” he said.

According to prime minister, the government will assist those who were employed in an informal sector or were self-employed once in the amount of 300 lari ($94.19).

He underlined that identification of such people is difficult but the government will try to make the database through social assistance services. The budget allocated for this purpose will be approximately 75 million lari ($23.5 million).
