Iran reveals rapeseed volumes purchased in Sistan and Baluchestan province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 7

More than 600 tons of rapeseed were purchased from farmers in Sistan and Baluchestan province in southeastern Iran since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020), said Mohsen Allahdadi, director for Iranshahr Deparment of Government Trading Corporation of Iran, Trend reports citing IRNA.

According to Allahdadi, rapeseed has been planted on 1,200 hectares in the south of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province in this year.

Allahdadi added that in order to support farmers, the company pays 60 percent of the costs related to the transportation of rapeseed to the company this year.

The official said that 1 kg of rapeseed is purchased at 46,600 rials (about $1,1) from farmers.

"So far, 25 billion rials [about $595,000] have been paid to farmers for purchasing the rapeseed. The remaining funds will be paid in stages," he said.

Allahdadi said that it is forecasted that 1,200 tons of rapeseed will be purchased from the farmers operating in the south of the province this year.

According to the official, harvesting of rapeseed in the south of the province started from the beginning of this year and will continue until the end of this Iranian month (May 20).
