Iran Khodro Industrial Group has produced more than 96,200 cars from the beginning of the current Iranian year (began from March 20, 2020) to date (June 13), Trend reports citing Iran Khodro Industrial Group.
According to the report, during this period, car production increased by 18 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year, as about 81,800 cars were produced in the same period last Iranian year.
Thus, car production has increased by more than 14,000 in the current Iranian year.
“However, given the spread of the coronavirus this year, car production start was delayed by a week,” the report said.
Iran continues to monitor the coronavirus situation in the country. According to recent reports from the Iranian officials, over 184,900 people have been infected, of which 8,730 people have died. Meanwhile, over 146,700 have reportedly recovered from the disease.
The country continues to apply strict measures to contain the further spread. Reportedly, the disease was brought to Iran by a businessman from Iran's Qom city, who went on a business trip to China, despite official warnings. The man died later from the disease. Iran announced its first infections and deaths from the coronavirus on Feb. 19.
The outbreak in the Chinese city of Wuhan - which is an international transport hub - began at a fish market in late December 2019.
The World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11 declared COVID-19 a pandemic. Some sources claim the coronavirus outbreak started as early as November 2019.
