Iran discloses data on chicken exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 18

Iran exported more than 7,000 tons of chicken worth $13.2 million during the first three months of current Iranian year (March 20-June 20, 2020), Spokesman for Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

According to Latifi, about 4,100 tons of chicken worth $8.18 million were exported to Afghanistan and 2,520 tons of chicken worth $3.59 million - to Iraq.

Latifi added that 264 tons of chicken meat worth $585,000 were exported to Venezuela.

The official said that the top three countries in terms of chicken exports are followed by Oman, Mongolia and Qatar.

The official stressed that from June 9, the export duty on 1 kg of chicken meat was reduced from 50,000 rials (about $1.19) to 15,000 rials (about 35 cent) to support chicken producers in Iran.

The value of Iran's foreign trade amounted to $13.9 billion during the first three months of the current Iranian year.

Iran's exports amounted to 21.9 million tons worth $6.36 billion, which shows a decrease by 43.98 percent in terms of value compared to the same period last Iranian year.

During the reporting period, Iran imported 8.92 million tons of products worth $7.62 billion. Imports of products decreased by 26.86 percent in terms of value compared to the same period last Iranian year.
