Iran's agricultural exports increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 22

Iran's agricultural exports increased by 30.4 percent in terms of volume and 6.8 percent in terms of value during the first four months of the current year (March 20-July 21, 2020) compared to the same period last Iranian year, said Mehrdad Jamal Arvanaghi, deputy head of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) for customs affairs, Trend reports citing IRICA.

According to the official, 2.7 million tons of agricultural products were exported in four months. However, this figure was 2.07 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.

He added that the value of exported agricultural products during the period amounted to $1.69 billion. However, this figure was $1.58 billion in the same period last Iranian year.

Arvanaghi emphasized that the exported agricultural products were mainly were pistachios and pistachio kernels, tomatoes, watermelons, apples, potatoes and cheese.

"These products are mainly exported to Iraq, China, Afghanistan, Russia and the United Arab Emirates," he said.
