Uzbekistan exported $427.2 million worth of fruits and vegetables in the first half of 2020, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
Compared to the same period of 2019, the Uzbekistan’s export of vegetables decreased by 34 percent.
The volume of exports of fruits and vegetables made up 720,400 tons (the rate of decline, as compared to the same period of 2019, made up 3.9 percent).
Of these, 523,900 tons of vegetables worth $204.3 million and 157,200 tons of fruits worth $169.8 million were exported. The decline in value indicators was 34.3 and 28.3 percent, respectively, compared to the same period in 2019.
The main export markets for fruits and vegetables are Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan.
The largest volume in value terms of exports of fruit and vegetable products is in Kazakhstan (31.3 percent of the total volume of fruit and vegetable products), which exceeds the volume of exports to Russia by 1.2 times.
In the first half of 2020, Uzbekistan shipped 39,800 tons of vegetables worth $24.2 million to Afghanistan and 16,000 tons worth $13.5 million to China.
In the period from January through June 2020, the share of fruit and vegetables in total exports of Uzbekistan was 6.6 percent.
