Kyrgyzstan becomes main exporter of livestock to Uzbekistan among EAEU countries

Uzbekistan imported 9,306 cattle and 8,096 sheep from the EAEU member countries in the period from January through May 2020, Trend reports citing statistics of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The main exporters of cattle and sheep in Uzbekistan were Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

Uzbekistan imported $2.9 million worth of cattle from the mentioned countries.

Kazakhstan's share in cattle exports is $1.6 million, Kyrgyzstan's $786,379 and Russia's $503,402.

The same countries exported sheep to Uzbekistan, for a total amount of $876,669 in the period from January through May 2020.

The share of Kazakhstan in the amount of exported sheep is $68,380, the share of Kyrgyzstan – $772,345, and the share of Russia – $35,943.

Earlier, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in order to boost regions livestock breeding, signed decree granting benefits to livestock farmers in all districts of the country’s Karakalpakstan Republic.

As an exception, the livestock farmers will be able to obtain (without a tender and auction) irrigated lands for industrial livestock farming; pastures and hayfields for livestock grazing; low-fertile irrigated lands for building stock-raising facilities, processing livestock products, producing mixed feeds in the absence of a land plot not used in agriculture.
