Around 4,000 requests have been filed to release imported goods valued at $520 million from customs following Iranian government approval to accelerate the release of imported necessary goods from the customs, said deputy at Iran Customs Administration.

"The first vice president has announced approval to accelerate the release of necessary goods four days ago and so far more than 4,000 requests were filed by importers that are being reviewed by the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade," said Jamal Arvanaghi, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

According to him, Iran Customs Administration has provided three lists that include collected data from imported necessary and unnecessary goods valued at $520 million to the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade that would later be sent to the Central Bank of Iran.

"The Central Bank of Iran would prepare the condition in a week to release the imported goods after review of the ministry's ruling. Most of the imported necessary goods were purchased on credit and since they have high-value, cargo owners need to supply foreign currency in form of credit and the Central Bank of Iran is committed to issuing credit foreign currency in three months," he added.

Arvanaghi noted that there are currently 3.4 million tons of necessary goods in Iran's ports and it is estimated that 70 percent of them were purchased on credit while about 30 percent of them were waiting to obtain foreign currency from the Central Bank of Iran based on priorities of the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade.
