Georgia exported 5,562 tons of apples to foreign markets from August 1 to November 29, 2020, up 143 times as compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports via the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.

The total value of the exported apples made up $2.4 million, up to $2.1 million as compared to the same period of 2019.

In the reporting period, Georgian apple was exported to Russia, Kazakhstan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

A large apple harvest is expected in Georgia this year - more than 120,000 tons, mainly in the Shida Kartli region.

State co-financing amounted to more than 9 million lari (about $ 3 million).

To facilitate the export of fruits, the necessary documentation is prepared and issued in a "single window" mode. Representatives of phytosanitary and customs services are involved in the process.

A working group has been created in the ministry, which is actively working in the field of searching and collecting information, systematizing, connecting farmers and distributors.
