Domestic Producer Price Index for Industrial Products up in Georgia

The Domestic Producer Price Index for Industrial Products (DPPI) in Georgia increased by 4.4 percent in January 2021 compared to the previous month, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

In the mentioned period the prices for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning were 15.8 percent higher. Compared to January 2020, the DPPI increased by 15.7 percent.

The prices went up for manufactured products by 14.6 percent, for products from electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning by 21.6 percent, for products from water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation services by 7.5 percent and for products from mining and quarrying by 7.3 percent.

Georgia exported locally produced goods worth $224.4 million in January 2021, which is 16.2 percent lower year-on-year.

The share of domestic exports (export of locally produced goods and services, including those of foreign origin that have been substantially changed through local processing) in total exports constituted 74.1 percent and amounted to $166.4 million, 6.4 percent lower to January 2020.

The top trading partners were Bulgaria ($26.7 million), China ($25.3 million), Turkey ($20.6 million).
