Turkmenistan and Germany have stressed the need to continue holding joint business forums, Trend reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
This was stated during a videoconference between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Executive Director of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations Michael Harms.
The parties discussed the possibility of holding a meeting in the videoconference format between the heads of relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and the trade and economic circles of Germany.
The expediency of holding the seventh round of German Economy Days in Turkmenistan in the near future was noted.
The sides also highlighted the effectiveness of long-term cooperation between the two countries in the banking sector. Thus, the Turkmen banks have established reliable relations with such German banks as Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank.
Earlier, a source in the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Trend that there is potential for further investment by German firms in Turkmenistan in the diversification of the Turkmen economy and in modernization projects.
Germany may also invest in Turkmen sectors dealing with climate change, environment and water management, the representative added.
"There are about 50 German companies active in Turkmenistan," said the ministry.
German companies such as Siemens, Daimler, Rohde & Schwarz, Dresser-Rand, MAN, Bosch and others make a significant contribution to the implementation of long-term projects in Turkmenistan, the source noted.
