Number of vehicles registered in Georgia increases

The number of vehicles registered in Georgia in 2020 increased by 72,900 and reached 1.4 million, Trend reports, referring to the data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

MIA statistics also include the ranking of the most frequently imported cars last year. The report also reveals that most of the cars imported into the country are second-hand.

Rankings of the most frequently imported cars in 2020:

TOYOTA PRIUS - 7,073 cars, decrease compared to the previous year - 11 percent;

TOYOTA CAMRY - 5,104 cars, 43-percent increase compared to the previous year;

FORD TRANSIT - 3,646 cars, import increase by 62-percent

HYUNDAI ELANTRA - 3,135 cars, 2-percent decrease in imports

HONDA FIT - 2,479 cars, 33-percent increase compared to the previous year

FORD FUSION - 1,969 cars, import growth from previous year by 87 percent

TOYOTA PRIUS C - 1,896 cars, import up by 224 percent

CHEVROLET CRUZE - 1,750 cars, increase of imports by 29 percent

TOYOTA RAV4 - 1,604 cars, 52-percent increase in imports

VOLKSWAGEN JETTA - 1,385 cars, import increase by 85 percent.

According to statistics, the primary market for car imports to Georgia is the United States, from which 48,000 cars were imported into Georgia in 2020.
