Iran sees increase in exports to ASEAN member states

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 8

The value of Iran's exports to the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) increased by 48 percent during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, an official of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) Mohsen Rezaeepour said, Trend reports citing the organization’s portal.

According to Rezaeepour, the value of Iran's exports to the ASEAN member states amounted to $1.07 billion.

“Among the 10 member states of the ASEAN, Iran mainly exported goods to Thailand. So, Iran exported 395,000 tons of goods worth $266 million to Thailand over the 5 months, which is an increase of 88 percent in terms of value compared to the same period last Iranian year. The main exported goods from Iran to Thailand were iron bars, steel products, bitumen, and so on,” he said.

The official also noted that Iran's exports to Indonesia amounted to 352,000 tons worth $227 million. The exports increased by 29 percent in terms of value, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
