Activity of mines in Iran's Hormozgan Province resumed

The activity of 11 mines in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) was resumed, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021), Deputy Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Hormozgan Province Ebrahim Sadini said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

The deputy noted that about 121 billion rials (about $2.88 million) was spent on resuming of these mines and 135 people have been employed in a result.

Sadini added that gypsum stone and various minerals will be extracted from the restored mines.

“The organization is taking serious steps to resume the activity of mines in the province. So, finding investors for the mines, providing assistance to investors are the issues in focus,” he said.

According to Sadini, the role of mines in the supply of raw materials for the production of steel products in the country is great.

Reportedly, there are more than 230 mines in Iran's Hormozgan Province. The reserves of these mines are more than 1.5 billion tons, where 17 types of minerals are extracted.
