Iran launches new projects in Anzali Free Zone

TEHRAN, Iran, March 29. Iran is launching new projects to develop Anzali Free Zone in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2022), the director of public relations and international affairs in Anzali Free Zone Organization Mehdi Kazemian told Trend.

"Construction of a Ro-Ro wharf is one of the projects in the Anzali free zone that will have a considerable effect on commercial cargo transportation. Connecting railway to Anzali port is another project," he said.

The official went on to say that the old Anzali port and the third generation Caspian port are two active ports in Anzali Free Zone that have 19 wharves with 212 million tons storage capacity.

The two ports are currently active and on the route of the International North-South Transportation Corridor and China- Kazakhstan- Iran Corridor.

According to Kazemian, Iran has imported goods from China via the corridor, and cargo transportation via China-Kazakhstan-Iran Corridor has been ongoing via Anzali port in past two years.
