Iran looks to directly export its fish products to China

TEHRAN, Iran, October 18. Iran looks to increase export of fish products to China, following its permanent membership in Shanghai Cooperation Organization, chairman of the quality control and marketing office in Iran Fisheries Organization Abbas Mokhtari told Trend.

"Iran’s membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has opened doors for the export of fisheries to China and Russia which are two major members of the SCO," he noted.

"China is Iran’s main export destination market and the two countries have recently signed two agreements to facilitate export of agricultural products from Iran to China with fewer customs obstacles," he pointed out. "Iran previously did not have the possibility to directly export fish products to China, due to lack of agreement, Iran used to export products via a third country such as Vietnam."

Iran’s export of fisheries in the first five months of the current year had a 61-percent increase in value and 29 percent increase in weight, compared to last year.

China and Russia are the main destination markets for Iran's fishery products.
