BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 15. Iran’s imports through the customs of East Azerbaijan Province in the north-west of the country amounted to 386,000 tons worth $1.2 billion, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through February 19, 2023), Customs Inspector of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province Leili Orangi told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to her, the imports through the province’s customs for the reporting period increased by 17 percent in value, while decreasing by 1 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“The main imported goods were various vehicles worth $363 million, equipment and spare parts worth $164 million, chemicals worth $54 million, tobacco worth $48 million, rubber materials worth $47 million, spare parts for paving machinery worth $45 million and etc.,” Orangi said.

The customs official added that the mentioned goods were imported from 52 countries, mainly from Türkiye worth $706 million, the UAE worth $152 million, China worth $109 million, Germany worth $82 million, South Korea worth 23 million, Italy worth $18 million, India worth $14 million, Georgia worth $14 million, Spain worth $13 million, and Japan worth $13 million.

Meanwhile, Iran imported a total of 33.6 million tons of goods worth $53.7 billion within the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through February 19, 2023). This is an increase of 15.2 percent in value, while a decrease of 8.61 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
