Iran’s steel ingots output grows

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 18. Iran’s steel ingot production increased by 7.4 percent, during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, Trend reports.

In total, about 6.32 million tons of steel ingots were produced in Iran in 2 months, while this figure stood at 5.88 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.

Within 2 months, 3.93 million tons of steel products (such as sleeves, fittings, various steel sheets, etc.) were manufactured in Iran.

This shows an increase of 3.6 percent compared to approximately 3.8 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.

In addition, 6.72 million tons of sponge iron were produced in the country for 2 months. The production increased by 2.8 percent compared to 6.54 million tons in the same period last year.

Reportedly, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
