BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 5. Passenger car production in Iran increased by 23.2 percent, during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
As reflected in the report of Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, a total of 456,126 passenger cars were manufactured in Iran in 5 months, while in the same period last year, the figure stood at 370,166.
Meanwhile, in the 5th month alone (July 23 through August 22, 2023), 79,329 passenger cars were manufactured within the country, representing a 9-percent increase compared to 72,473 units in the same month last Iranian year.
There are three giant car manufacturing companies - Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
In total, 1.18 million passenger cars were manufactured in the country for the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 35 percent compared to 874,000 units in the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
