IMF to Hold Expert Appraisal in Azerbaijan to Its Joining Data Distribution Special Standards in 2007

The State Statistics Committee continues its work on the country`s joining to the IMF (International Monetary Fund) data distribution special standards, Trend reports. According to the State Committee, not late ago, next round of negotiations with the IMF Statistics Department was held in Washington. After the meeting with Zdravko D. Balyoza, an economist of the Department, Azerbaijan was informed about the IMF intention to hold an expert appraisal in April 2007. The IMF experts are expected to visit Baku in this connection.

We have some questions on GDP, since the statistics reports shows this indicator with an increasing result, but IMF suggest pointing out monthly and quarterly data purely, the Committee pointed out. In addition, the IMF experts are to examine the price index calculation, since the lists of products on the basis of which the inflation rate is calculated, have extended. They have questions relating the indicator of the industry as well.

In order to join the IMF special standards, the country should fulfill all IMF requirements. The methodical data, and showings to meet the Fund`s standards as much as possible. We have submitted a schedule on presenting the statistical information to the Fund. The terms it stipulates should be observed. And in this connection the country should take obligations, pointed out the State Committee.

The coordinators on this work are Azerbaijan`s Finance Ministry, National bank of Azerbaijan, and the State Statistics Committee.
