Azerbaijan State Veterinary Service Announced Absence of Mass Death of Birds

The State Veterinary Service of the Agriculture Ministry of Azerbaijan refutes the report of a mass death of birds occurring in the Boyuk Behmenli village of Fizuli district of Azerbaijan, Trend reports quoting the statement from the Veterinary Service.

On 8 January, research was undertaken by specialists of the District Veterinary Department. As a result of the inspections, it became apparent that the mass death of the birds was not detected in either the border zone with Iran or in the Boyuk Behmenli village.

The State Veterinary Service calls on the population not to believe such anomalous information and confirms that monitoring of the bird flu continues with no mass death of birds being recorded to date.

All veterinary border services are conducting inspections to prevent the penetration of the virus into the Country. The ban on hunting, the sale and the use of wild birds, as well as the import of poultry from countries where there has previously been cases of the bird flu' virus, is in force.
