The State Statistics Committee has confirmed initial data on foreign investment in the Azerbaijani economy in 2006, Trend reports.
The total amount of foreign investment made up $4667.5mln. Some 80% of the total, or $3731.8mln, fell to direct investment, 17.3% ($807.5mln) was invested in financial credits.
Investment in the oil and gas sector dropped 9.2% from last year. In this period joint ventures and companies with foreign investment invested $281.5mln in the non-oil sector of the country, or 22.1% more than 2005.
