Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / The Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry has taken measures for restoring the the Kura-Araks lowlands, Bahram Aliyev, the Deputy Agriculture Minister, said. The problem occurred due to out-dated drainage systems installed during the Soviet Union period.
Earlier, the level of sewage in the Ujar, Kurdamir, Saatli, and Sabirabad regions rose to 1.5m, but now it reaches as high as 1.8m.
Korea expressed readiness to render assistance to Azerbaijan to settle the problem. The volume of the investments has not been defined yet.
