Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / The mission of the World Bank headed by Olivye Le Ber, the Bank's specialist on railway structure will be in Baku on 11 - 12 September to discuss prospects of co-operation with the Azerbaijani Government in the transport sector.
Le Ber will become familiar with the implementation of the present project to reconstruct trunk-roads. The bank has proposed to finance agricultural and regional roads in the Zakatala and Balakan regions of Azerbaijan. The Government is planning to allocate $1.5bln to restore and strengthen major roads for ten years. Some $200-300mln may be allocated for the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, the Islam Bank of Development and Asian Bank of Development.
BP assesses its investments by $550mln. A total of $200mln will be allocated to expand and modify the Alat-Masalli route and also repair the Baku-Shamakha-Mugan road.
