Azerbaijan, Baku, 30 January / Trend / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will drill 10 new wells in the unique Azerbaijani land field of Balakhani-Sabunchu-Ramana in 2008 as compared to 13 in 2007, SOCAR said.
Unique non-freezing types of oil are produced from the oil extracted from this field.
The Balakhani-Sabunchu-Ramana field possesses 1150 wells, the largest fund of the wells among all the extracting companies of SOCAR. Some of the wells have been in operation for more than 100 years. According to the estimations of the geologist, the field possesses enough resources of oil to warrant further exploitation.
Some 215, 480 tons of oil are expected to be produced in the field in 2008 as compared to 216,122 tons in 2007. There are 27 levels being exploited in the field at the moment, SOCAR said.
