Azerbaijan, Baku, 5 March / corr. Trend A. Badalova/ Cristos Folias, the minister of development of Greece, will discuss the purchase of Azerbaijani gas from the Shahdeniz field, (its commercial operator is Statoil Hydro) in mid-March in Baku.
Peggi Papkosta, the employee of the Ministry of Development of Greece said to Trend on 5 March that Folias will discuss the supply of Azerbaijani gas, which will be transported through the territory of Turkey to Greece and Italy, on 17-18 March during his visit.
"The minister will also discuss trade and business in Azerbaijan," Papakosta said.
In 2007, the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan and Ministry of Development of Greece signed a memorandum in Baku for the gas cooperation. The European countries plan to obtain some 8bln cu. meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan through ITGI gas pipeline, which will unite Italy, Greece and Turkey in 2012.
