Negotiations on Azerbaijan’s Natural Gas Supply to Georgia to be Continued

Azerbaijan, Baku, 9 April / Trend corr S. Aliyev, A. Ismayilova/ The negotiations on supply of Azerbaijani gas to Georgia will be continued on 24 April, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Namig Aliyev said on 9 April. This week Rovnag Abdullayev, the President of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), negotiated gas issue in Tbilisi.

"The negotiations are all right. There is some progress," the Ambassador said.

A new agreement on supply of SOCAR gas to Georgia is being discussed in Tbilisi. The contract will be signed with SOCAR, which produces gas from its own fields.

SOCAR can supply 500mln cu m of gas during a year to Georgia, though the country's demand is 1-1.5bln cu m of gas per year. This year, Georgia may purchase Azerbaijani gas at $180-$190 per 1,000 cu m.
